On Sunday May 2nd we held our 3rd annual Kick-off Clinic at the new Batavia Sports Park located at the former Batavia Turf Farms location. This years clinic was administered by Liz Masterson and her staff from RIT.

This is our annual event provided as a benefit to all S.C. Genesee Lancers players.  Below is some information on Liz Masterson:

Lou Spiotti Jr., Director for the Center for Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation at RIT, has named Liz Masterson as the fifth head coach of the Rochester Institute of Technology women’s soccer program. Masterson brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the RIT program.

“Liz’s passion for the game and enthusiasm for this challenge is quite apparent,” said Spiotti. “She will be a great addition to our program”

Masterson comes to RIT after serving two seasons as the head women’s soccer coach at Elmira College.

“I am grateful to Lou Spiotti for giving me the opportunity to lead the RIT Women’s Soccer Program into a new era of athletics,” said Masterson. “It is an honor to join a department and an institution with such high standards for student-athletes, and I am eager to begin working with the team.”

While at Elmira, Masterson helped the Soaring Eagles double their win total from 2008 to 2009, bringing in 13 freshmen her first season who combined for 23 of the team’s 25 goals. She helped Elmira to the NSCAA All-Academic Team award in 2008 and 2009.

Masterson is a 2005 graduate of St. Lawrence University where she received a bachelor’s degree in government. She was a four-year starter of the varsity soccer team, serving as captain in 2004. Masterson was an All-Region performer in 2001, 2003 and 2004; a first team All-Liberty League performer from 2001-05 and was a NSCAA first team All-American in 2003.

After graduation, Masterson went on to Manhattanville College where she earned a master of science in sport business management in 2008. While there, she served as the assistant coach for the women’s soccer team assisting in all areas of the women’s soccer program.
